At Taylor & Wood Publishing, we support authors at different stages of their journey — from early ideas to finished books ready for readers.

Our work is author-led, flexible, and shaped around individual needs. We don’t believe there is one correct way to make a book, so we offer support that can meet you where you are.

Book Coaching & Creative Support

£20 per hour

Book coaching is for writers who have an idea, a draft, or a story they want to develop — but need guidance, reassurance, or structured support to move forward.

This service is particularly suited to:

  • first-time authors
  • writers who feel stuck or unsure
  • authors who benefit from conversation and encouragement
  • those who want to explore their ideas before committing to full publishing

Book coaching can support you with:

  • developing your idea or storyline
  • shaping characters and themes
  • building confidence in your writing
  • Understanding next steps in the publishing process

Sessions are collaborative and paced around you. There is no pressure to move quickly or meet fixed outcomes — the focus is on helping your book take shape in a way that feels manageable and supported.

Publishing Services

Prices start from £3.00 per page.

Our publishing services support authors who are ready to move their book towards publication, whether they have a completed manuscript or are close to one.

Services can include:

  • editing and proofreading
  • typesetting and layout
  • illustration coordination
  • publishing support and guidance

We work flexibly, recognising that every book — and every author — has different requirements. Services can be combined or adapted, and timelines are shaped around the project rather than imposed in advance.

Pricing is discussed openly and clearly, with care taken to ensure expectations are understood before work begins.

Printing options

We work alongside a small number of trusted printers and can support you in sending your book to print when it’s ready. If you’d like guidance through this stage, we can help prepare files and liaise with printers on your behalf.

You are also welcome to have your book printed elsewhere if you prefer. We’re happy to provide print-ready files and support you in choosing the option that feels right for you.

As with all our work, the decision remains with the author — we aim to make the process clear and flexible, not prescriptive.

Distribution, legal deposit, and additional costs

As part of the publishing process, a copy of every book published in the UK must be sent to the British Library under legal deposit requirements. We can support authors with this step to ensure it is handled correctly and without stress.

If you would like your book to be available through additional channels — such as Amazon or independent bookshops — there may be extra costs involved. These can include platform fees, printing costs, or retailer requirements, depending on the route you choose.

We believe it’s essential to be open about these considerations from the outset. Any additional costs are discussed clearly and in advance, and there is no expectation that authors follow a single distribution path. Our role is to explain the options available and support you in choosing what feels right for you and your book.

How we work

Across all our work, we prioritise:

  • clear and kind communication
  • flexibility around pace and process
  • respect for the author’s voice and circumstances
  • inclusion in practice, not just in principle

We believe publishing should feel collaborative, not intimidating. Our role is to support, guide, and make space — not to take control.

If you have an idea for a book, or you’re thinking about publishing and want to talk through your options, we’d be glad to hear from you.
