Inclusive Publishing
Publishing that is accessible, flexible, and shaped around people.
At Taylor & Wood Publishing, inclusion is not an added feature or a statement of intent — it is the foundation of how we work.
We believe publishing should be accessible, flexible, and responsive to the people creating the work, not shaped by rigid systems or expectations. Too often, traditional publishing models create barriers — whether through fixed timelines, inaccessible processes, or assumptions about who publishing is “for”. Our aim is to offer an alternative.
Making Publishing accessible.
We work to remove barriers wherever possible.
This may mean:
- adapting timelines to suit health, caring responsibilities, or life circumstances
- offering different ways to communicate and collaborate
- breaking down complex publishing processes into clear, manageable steps
- supporting authors who may not feel confident or familiar with publishing systems
Accessibility is not about lowering standards — it is about making space for people to work in ways that allow their ideas and stories to fully emerge.
Author-led and flexible
No two authors, and no two books, are the same.
Our approach is author-led, meaning we shape each publishing journey around the individual. We do not expect authors to fit into a fixed process. Instead, we adapt our support — whether that’s through book coaching, editorial work, or full publishing — to reflect the needs, pace, and preferences of the person we are working with.
This flexibility allows us to support a wider range of voices, including those who may have been overlooked or excluded elsewhere.
Representation through literature
We believe that literature should reflect the full range of human experience.
This includes supporting:
- diverse voices and perspectives
- stories rooted in lived experience
- work that might not align with traditional commercial expectations
By making space for these stories, we contribute to a publishing landscape that is broader, more representative, and more meaningful.
Inclusion in practice
We believe that literature should reflect the full range of human experience.
This includes supporting:
- diverse voices and perspectives
- stories rooted in lived experience
- work that might not align with traditional commercial expectations
By making space for these stories, we contribute to a publishing landscape that is broader, more representative, and more meaningful.
A different way of publishing
Inclusive publishing is not a niche — it is a necessary shift.
By making publishing more accessible, adaptable, and human, we open the door to stories that might otherwise remain unheard. In doing so, we support not only individual authors but also a richer, more inclusive literary landscape as a whole.
Speaking and conversations
We are open to speaking with schools, organisations, and community groups about inclusive publishing and the importance of making literature more accessible.
This can include conversations around:
- author-led publishing
- removing barriers within the publishing process
- supporting diverse voices and lived experiences
- creating more inclusive approaches to writing and storytelling
We approach this work in the same way we approach publishing — with care, clarity, and a focus on creating space for meaningful discussion.
If you would like to explore this, you’re welcome to get in touch.
